This week has been a busy one for me. I was able to get some knitting done and actually worked on a Mother’s Day gift. I was pretty happy with both of those things.
I am not so happy with the flooding of our basement! We had two straight days of pretty heavy rain last week and our sump pump decided to quit! Our basement was used as a storage area for many of the items we only use at holidays, etc. We thought we were safe by putting our well loved items in plastic bins. We were wrong. The plastic bins began to float and then tip over. Water poured into the bins and ruined so many treasured items. I keep reminding myself they are only things.
Because of the flooding, we have had workers in and out of the house and that will continue for another couple of weeks. I just keep remembering there are many who have it much worse. There will be much time spent getting the basement in order again.
I am so glad that knitting takes me to a calm place and puts things in perspective.
My knitting has suffered because of all of the phone calls, people in and out and dealing with the insurance company. I did hit just over the half way point with my shawl. I am still very happy with it.
I am sorry about the photo of the shawl. It was taken with my phone and the clarity is not so great. I was in a hurry to get this post written and share my progress with you!
My content companion, Daisy, gave her approval of the work I have accomplished so far!
I am also busy working on my sun porch. There are a lot of spiders and cobwebs out there! I look forward to it being all cleaned up. I love sitting out there and having a cup of tea and working on some handwork.
What have you been working on this week?
