I have been working hard to make sure there is more balance in my life. I was finding myself on the computer for way too many hours. Yes, I do write my blog for money, but that is only part of it. I write this blog to share what I cook and create, but more than that as a way to reach out to friends and make new friends. I hate to admit it, but I got caught up in building my blog and it quickly became something I didn’t enjoy any more.
Quilting, knitting, gardening are so important to me. I am busy getting back to those wonderful things! If you remember, I was busy working on 2 very different quilts last week. My machines and I are still busy with both of those quilts. I am on the third Block of the month for the “Housewarming Quilt” and I have just finished another block for the “A Place In The Sun” quilt. I am taking a bit of a break on the “A Place In The Sun” quilt because I need the hoop to make the wings and head for the angle I am working on!
Here is one of the finished blocks from my last class for the Housewarming quilt. The lighting in my sewing room is great for many things, but taking photos is not on the list! The colors in the quilt are really beautiful, but this picture does the blocks no justice. I am pretty happy that my corners meet up! I am not always so good at it!
We are big lovers of Halloween and we enjoy adding new decorations to our arsenal every year. This year, I am making a lace garland for both myself and for my daughter. So far I have 4 pieces finished. I just love the green color. What to do think? Does it look like a Halloween color? My daughter is not so sure about it.
I will be making a few purple skulls and of course a few black. I think once we get them put together, we will be able to tell which colors are the best.
As far as knitting is concerned – I hate to admit – there have been no needles in my hands. No click clacking of bamboo going on in this house! I got a little busy reading a great book that I picked up in the library! It is “Delicous” by Ruth Reichl and is a fun and easy read. I got pulled in and enjoyed the story and the characters. Since there was some talk of food, recipes and Chefs, I felt a good connection to the book!
