Yard Sale season is upon us!
I love a good yard sale. Sometimes, I even love a bad yard sale! I have been known to slam on the brakes of my car and screech around corners when I see a sign pointing to, what could be, my next treasure!
Today, I am sharing a list of,what I think are, the Top 5 Tips you need to remember when going shopping at yard sales.
1.) Wear comfortable shoes, not sandals. Many people have items laid out in the grass and you don’t want to get wet feet. While speaking of comfortable shoes, don’t forget to wear comfortable clothing also. You may start the morning with a sweater over a short sleeve shirt. Wear sunglasses. Don’t forget sunscreen.
2.) Take cash and make sure you have small bills and coins. If you are someone who shops early, the seller may not have change for your $20.00.
3.) Go early to yard sales. If you are out there looking for a great buy, be there early. Some people go late thinking they will get a good price. This may be true, but they also run the risk of missing out on some good finds! Please, please, please, do not be an early bird. No one wants to be woken up by a stranger wanting to shop before everyone else!
4.) Take a box or a bag with you. Leave a larger cardboard box in your car. It is a great place to put small things and you don’t have to worry about them rolling around in your car. Take a few plastic bags with you. I take a few newspapers with me because I like to wrap the things I buy, that way I can be sure they are safe.
5.) Buy what looks good to you and can be repaired without too much work. Buying something that will take you hours to repair and require a lot of parts to get it to look good is not really a deal.
I find that it is necessary to go often. Some weekends I can find only a few things and some weekends I find a lot.
I hope this list of my Top 5 Yard Sale Tips helps you out. What are your tips?
