How to make a no sew cat bed – it is so much easier than you would think!
We have 3 very loved cats. Each of them have their own personalities and likes and dislikes. All three of our “babies” are rescue cats.
We have always treated our cats like family members. We make sure they have a comfortable place to sleep, the best quality cat food and treats and lots of love and attention.
Paying attention to our cat’s diets is really important to us. Just like humans, our cats have different dietary needs. Batz, our oldest cat needs treats and food that focuses on weight control. She is almost 17 and doesn’t get as much exercise as she use to.
Precious is our middle aged cat. She is kind of a loaner and wants to be paid attention to when she want it and never when you would like to pet her! She will come running for an IAMS™ treat though. I make sure to get her treats with Oral care.
Last, but certainly not least, is Monet. He is a good looker, isn’t he? He is also the youngest and full of energy and ready to play at any time. He is pretty particular about his looks and will spend hours grooming himself. Since he has such long hair, we make sure to give him IAMS™ treats with hairball control.
Monet is always the first at the food dish! He is a very active cat and it is his goal to make sure he gets his share of good food. It is our goal to feed him and the other two cats, high quality food that is specialized to meet their needs.
Making sure the cats have someplace comfortable to sleep is important to me. So, I make no sew beds using old bed pillows and scraps of fleece. You can easily find the fleece at your local craft store. Here is a tip – look in the remnants section for pieces of fleece that are about a yard long. The remnants are less expensive than having your fabric cut from the bolt.
These beds are so easy to wash. It is one of the reasons I love them. Just take the pillow out of the case and toss it in the washing machine. When it is nice and clean, stuff the pillow back in, knot the open side and it is ready to be used again.
What you need to make a no sew cat bed:
- 1 yard of two coordinating pieces of fleece (2 yards if you want both sides the same)
- Old bed pillow
Here is how to make a no sew cat bed:
1.) Lay out your pieces of fabric on a flat surface.
2.) Lay your pillow on top of the fabric and cut around the pillow to create a pattern. I cut about 3 – 4 inches away from the edge of the pillow.
3.) I like to use two different fabrics – I think it makes it more fun.
4.) Then cut strips that are about one inch wide and about 3 – 4 inches long all around the fabric pieces.
5.) Next, you will tie a double knot using the top and bottom pieces of fabric in most of the strips. Leave an opening on the “back” side of the bedding case. This is where you will insert your pillow.
6.) When you have created your knots, put the pillow in the case. Then you will knot the last strips – just don’t double knot them. You will want to be able to easily undo these knots so you can toss the case in the washing machine.
That is it! You have now made a no sew cat bed that your kitties will love. This bed is so easy to clean and inexpensive, you will have one in all of the rooms of your house.
Since our cats are so different and have many different dietary needs, I make sure I buy treats and food that is well balanced and targets their special needs. IAMS™ takes care of all of my cat’s needs my offering treats and food that is for hairball care, digestive health and oral care.
So, the next time you are in Walmart picking up your groceries and pet supply needs, head over to the pet food isle and look for IAMS™ and pick some up.
How do you show your pet you love them? Do you make them something special, do your have a special routine with them? Have you purchased IAMS™ cat treats for your cats? Please share, I would love to know.
