Homemade Dog Treats- Shiloh (The Dog) Want’s A Present Too!

December 18, 2015 By Cynthia 1 Comment

Homemade Dog Treats

My daughter Jessica babysits for a 3-year old little girl named Ally. The girls decided they would like to make Christmas presents for Ally’s family this year. They chose to make Christmas tree ornaments for each member of Ally’s family.

The girls were having such a wonderful time decorating and laughing while painting the ornaments. Ally was telling funny stories about each of her family members as they worked together to make each gift perfect.

Suddenly, Ally became very concerned. Jessica asked her, what was wrong? She said, in a very sad little voice, Shiloh wants a present too. Who is Shiloh? Still concerned she says, Shiloh is my dog, and she will be sad if she doesn’t get a present too.

With a bit of thinking, we came up with the idea to make Shiloh some homemade dog treats. Once it was decided that she was going to make treats she knew exactly the shape they needed to be, a bone shape of course. Luckily there is a bone shape cutter in our stash of cookie cutters.

MERRY CHRISTMAS SHILOH

We used this recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter Dog Treats.  The recipe was perfect! I would definitely recommend it.

The dog treats were super easy to make. Mixing up the recipe took literally less than 5 mins. With only 4 ingredients needed, this recipe makes some very inexpensive treats. They rolled out perfectly, there was no sticking to the board or cutter. We baked ours for 16 mins, which was just perfect for a crunchy treat.

MERRY CHRISTMAS SHILOH Dog Treats

This was a great recipe for little hands to work with. Ally was able to do a lot of the work herself, she needed a bit of help removing the dough from the cutter, but overall she had a great time making special homemade dog treats for her pal Shiloh.

How thoughtful to include Shiloh in the gift giving. I’ve never made dog treats, but this sounds like something I might tackle with my kiddos.
