Look no further, black pepper shortbread cookies are the cookie for you.
Before we go any further, I am going to make a little confession. This recipe has sugar in it. Yes, white sugar.
Don’t worry, I have not given up my clean eating ways. Sometimes even the cleanest eater needs a little treat. Shortbread cookies have always been my favorite and my indulgence. I have made Earl Grey Shortbread bars, chocolate dipped coffee shortbread, and my very favorite, Lavender shortbread cookies. They are all scrumptious.

Shortbread is super easy to make and typically only requires 3 or 4 ingredients. I can’t complain about that.
Black pepper shortbread
Buttery, sweet and peppery. The perfect combination of flavors.
- 2/3 cups sugar
- 1 cup salted butter
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp black pepper
Preheat oven to 325 F
Pulse all ingredients in a food processor until combined. Press in a 7X10 baking dish and bake for 30 minutes or until edges are slightly golden.
Cool in the pan for about 5 minutes and then cut into 2 inch squares.
Allow to cool completely before removing squares from the dish.
