In my family, we enjoy to celebrating our love for each other in many ways. On a regular basis, we write love notes for lunch boxes, purchase little trinkets we know a family member will enjoy and send text messages to each other that are filled with happy and silly comments. When a special occasion like a birthday comes around, we go all out.
Birthday are so fun to celebrate. No matter what age a person is, they always want to be treated special on their birthday.
I recently found out that Baskin-Robbins was having a 70th birthday. I didn’t even know that they had been around since 1945. Did you? When I found this out, I knew the perfect way to celebrate Big’s 50th birthday would be with a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake. I think it is so fun that Big and Baskin-Robbins celebrated birthdays with a zero at the end of them. Those are milestone birthdays.
In our family, the birthday person gets to pick what ever they like for a meal and for a cake. I found out that Big wanted hot dogs, macaroni salad, baked beans and chips. I can’t even remember what she said she wanted for a cake, because I knew I would be getting her an ice cream cake. I wanted it to be a surprise.
I ordered the cake on-line, it was so easy to do. I chose the new style cake with the little cupcakes on top of it. Those little cupcakes are so yummy! When I went to pick up the cake, I made sure I signed Big and everyone else in the family up for Baskin-Robbins’ Birthday Club. You can get a free scoop of ice cream on your birthday and for the month of September, 70 members will get a gift certificate worth $31.00 for their favorite treats.
When we had finished with the birthday meal, I brought out the cake! Big was so happy to see a cake filled with her favorite ice cream – mint chocolate chip. The kids felt it was necessary to help her blow out the candles!
This birthday celebration was perfect. Sharing a special day with family, good food and a great ice cream cake from Baskin-Robbins is the way to go.
How does your family celebrate birthdays? I would love to hear about it.
