Coffee filters are a great an inexpensive thing to have around your house, even if you don’t drink coffee! If I remember correctly, the last time I purchased coffee filters they cost less than $2.00 for about 100.
I have always been a coffee drinker. Every morning I have two cups of coffee and my family has learned that I am not always the friendliest person until the second cup of coffee is completely gone! It is as if a switch was turned on inside of me and the day can begin!
When my daughter was little I began to learn that coffee filters were not just for coffee. There are so many great things that you can do with them. So without further ado, here is a list of some of the things I use them for.
1.) Use them to clean mirrors or windows – they don’t have lint and won’t leave fuzz.
2.) Use them as protectors between fine china – your dishes won’t get scratched.
3.) Instead of using a paper towel for a snack, use a coffee filter. They are like a little bowl and just the right size for little hands.
4.) Put a filter in the bottom of a pot when planting. It will keep the soil from draining out.
5.) Use the filter to scoop Crisco out of the can and grease your baking dishes. You won’t get any of the lint in your baking.
6.) Polish your shoes. Dip the filter into the polish and apply, then use another filter to shine it up!
7.) If you or your other half cut yourself when shaving, tear off a small piece of the filter and put it on the cut. It works better than a styptic.
8.) Add some baking soda and lavender to the center of the filter and twist the top together, wrap with a rubber band. This is a great freshener for shoes and drawers.
9.) Place a filter between your non-stick skillets to keep from scratching each other when you stack them in the cabinet.
10.) Place a filer in a colander or strainer put the strainer in a bowl, fill with regular yogurt, and let sit in the fridge overnight. Fresh Greek yogurt the next morning.
Well, there you have it. My 10 favorites. I know there are many more great things to do with coffee filters. Let me know some of your ideas.
