I brought some beautiful grapes home last week. I thought they looked juicy and sweet. I envisioned myself sitting on a chaise lounge snacking on these lovelies while reading a book (like I have time to read).
Big was envisioning making wine! Why, I am still not sure, she doesn’t even drink wine!
My first bite of the grapes was a bit disappointing. Although they were sweet, the skin was thick and a bit tough. I found a seed or two also!
This meant I needed to rethink the snacking idea. I pondered Big’s wine making wishes. I love a good glass of wine. It just seemed like too much work.
I decided to make Grape Jelly!
I used the recipe right off the Sure Jell box.
There are some great sites and books about canning, so I won’t give you all the recipe details. I would hate for you to get ill because of me.
I was a bit worried about making jelly. I wanted to make sure it was nice and clear and I worried about the straining. There was no need to worry, it was easy peasy!
Big gave this jelly a thumbs up and even said it was better than Smuckers! I was happy to hear that. Big loves grape jelly!

Tomorrow Big and I will be shucking 36 ears of corn, canning peaches and freezing okra! Sounds like fun, right?
