Fall is definitely in the air here in Central VA. I love the crisp morning and cooler nights. Being outside is much more pleasurable at this time of the year.
To me, fall means soups, stews and comfort foods. Casseroles often find their way on my table. One pot dishes are great too. Having family around the table is so much nicer when the weather is cool – I think it warms up to room just to have those you love enjoying a meal that you made with love.
Fall also means house and yard chores in my home. Now that it is not so hot, I can get outside and get my flower beds ready for winter. You will see me at the garden center buying lots of mulch in the next couple of weeks. I also check for annuals that are on sale. This is a great time to pick them up – you know me, always being frugal.
I also make sure I touch up any paint that has peeled from doors and windows during the summer. Checking for cracked sealant around doors and windows is important too. Air can sneak in and raise your electric bill.
So, as you can see, I will be busy over the next couple weeks. What kind of chores do you work on during the fall?
