Menu Plan Monday is a new series for me. Not new in the way that I have never done it before, just new in that I have decided to share my menu with you.
If you have been a reader for a while, you know that Big is a Federal Government employee and that not too long ago, we were affected by the government sequester. At that time, I began to work on our budget, looking for ways to cut back on our expenses. I also began the series Living Big on Less Money. The series has become one of my favorites! It is a great place for me to share my frugal ways and tips and for other bloggers to drop by and share their frugal tips and tricks.
The year 2014 brings higher insurance rates and budget cuts. Those things mean budget cuts to our home also. So, I am once again reworking our budget. I know that with a great menu plan and use of sale papers and coupons, I will be able to feed my family great tasting, healthy food for less.
Back to Menu Planning! I have been a menu planner for many years. It began when I started to homeschool my daughter and we found ourselves out of the house more than we were in the house. There was no way I could serve my family a home cooked meal if I didn’t have a plan. I found that if I wrote out a menu, I not only saved time, but money. There was never a question about what would be served for dinner.
Here is our menu for the week. The links to the recipes are below it.
Monday – Split Pea Soup, Fresh Artisan Bread, Salad
Tuesday – Pasta Carbonara, Garlic Bread, Side Salad
Wednesday – Slow Cooker Sloppy Joe’s
Thursday – Black Bean Burger Dinner from an Edible Mosaic
Friday – Tilapia with Fresh Herbs, Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans
Saturday – Ginger Scallion Chicken Wings, Tater Tots, Green Salad
Sunday – Roast Chicken, Brussels Sprouts, Baked Potatoes (Save leftover chicken for next week)
Come back on Friday, I will begin my series on Menu Planning. I will be sharing all of my tips and tricks and showing you how to save time and money by planning your meals. I will also have some great printables to make your meal planning easier too!
I am sharing this menu plan at Organized Junkie. Stop by and see other menus!
