This year has been tough on me and my family. There has been a lot of illness and death in our family and it has been pretty hard to handle. My family and I keep discussing getting away to restore.
We have taken the time to think about where we would love to spend some time relaxing and recuperating from the events that have happened this year. The one place that keeps coming up is Gulf County, Florida. There is so much to do there! You may ask why would you choose Gulf County over any other place in Florida. First off, let me say the sunshine and warm weather appeals to me!
As a foodie, I know that the plump shrimp boiled to perfection or the pecan crusted mahi mahi would tickle my taste buds. What about the Tupelo Honey? Who wouldn’t love to bring some of that home for a few of your special recipes? In April, the Salt Air Farmers Market is going on. I know I would enjoy picking up some local produce, artisan breads and handmade arts and crafts.
Big and my daughter are a little more adventerous than I am and I know they would love to go Kayaking or paddleboarding. There are great hiking and walking trails also. As for me, when I think about Gulf County Florida, I think about clean beaches, pristine waters and total relaxation. Heck, I might even treat myself to a spa day while they are busy enjoying outdoor sports!
Gulf County Florida is a wonderful area to visit. You can hop from Port St. Joe to Cape San Blass and then to Indian Pass. Did you know that Gulf Country Florida encompases two time zones? By the way, if your family inclueds a pet or two, the beaches in Gulf County are pet friendly! That is great news for my family because we love to take our dog where ever we go.
Gulf County Florida is having a contest the #GCFLnofilter. They are looking for great photos of you and your family doing what you love.
Here are the details:

We will provide great lodging in some unique places along the Gulf, St. Joseph Bay or in the cute small town of Port St. Joe. Perfect spots to enjoy your favorite outdoor activity. Each prize package will also include $200 to help with travel expenses and $150 towards your passion of choice. Feel free to spend it on an excursion once you get to Gulf County or to treat yourself to something at home. All to celebrate the outdoors and the real you!
Here is my photo! I love traveling and visiting new places. As you can see, it is still cold in Michigan where I was visiting a huge gnome! I am dreaming of walking on the beach in the warm sunshine! You can see this photo and more at my Instagram account – http://instagram.com/p/mpwrL7ikTI/
One last and very important thing about this contest – For every entry GCFL receives, we will donate $1 to Outdoor Nation – up to a final donation of $5,000! Outdoor Nation believes in reconnecting the Millennial Generation to the outdoors. This is a great program that is helping kids and teens reconnect with the great outdoors!
So, are you ready to Come visit GCFL? I know I am . After reading the website and seeing with the Gulf County has to offer, I ask you this, “What would your favorite thing to do be?” I look forward to hearing your answer.
