Hello everyone and welcome to the second Everyday Entrees for Around $5.00 – Frugal Family Meals link party.
I started this link party last month after realizing that we all have times in the month when money is extra tight. Right now many of you are feeling the crunch of purchasing school supplies. Perhaps it is an unexpected appointment with the Doctor. For me, it was the necessity of a new roof!
What ever the reason may be, we all know how to pinch our pennies and come up with some great tasting and frugal meals for our families.
I realize some of you may not think fixing a main dish for around $5.00 is possible, but you would be very wrong. I recently made a large pot of potato soup that ended up costing less than $5.00 and fed four of us for dinner and three of us had it for lunch the next day.
Of course, many dishes can cost less if you get the protein on sale or you use coupons. During the summer, you can get fresh vegetables for less from your farmers market. All of this is taken into consideration when calculating the cost of a recipe.
I want to take a minute to share a couple of the recipes that were brought to the party last month. I hope they inspire you to dig through all of your recipes and find some that cost around $5.00 per dish. I am sure you will be surprised at how many frugal family meals you find.
