This week’s Bake 52 recipe is Make-Ahead French Toast Casserole.
I was happy to be able to try this recipe out. It was Big’s Birthday on Monday the 17th and I wanted to begin the celebration early, by making a hearty breakfast on Sunday.
If you are looking for the recipe, head on over to My Sugar Coated Saga.
One of the things I love about this recipe, is that the majority of it can be made up to 24 hours ahead of the scheduled baking time! That means, you can “fix it and forget it,” the day before.
Since there are just two of us in the house, I cut the recipe in half. It was easy to adjust the measurements, and the recipe still came out fantastic.
I loved the nut and brown sugar topping that is added just before baking. It gave the french toast a cinnamon roll taste! I loved it!
I will bake this French Toast again. I don’t think it will be something that graces my table often though. It is very sweet and heavy. I can see this being something that will be served when family or company are over. Perhaps it will become a favorite holiday breakfast.
I hope you will give this recipe a try. I think you may find a new family favorite!

I was thinking it would be a great holiday recipe too! It looks lovely, glad you liked it!
