Today, for the first time, I am linking up with Bake 52. We are a group of bakers who are making recipes from The America’s Test Kitchen Family Baking Book.
I look forward to making many of the recipes from this book and, more importantly, the opportunity to make new friends.
Today’s recipe is Deep-Dish Pepperoni Pizza! We are big lovers of pizza in this house. I have a standard pizza dough recipe that has been around for a long time. I am sure you do to!
I may have found a new “go to” pizza dough recipe!
The full recipe is at Girl + Food = Love
This is a pretty standard pizza dough. The one change I would make is to delete the sugar. I found the crust to be a bit sweet.
After the first rise, the crust is placed in two 9 inch cake pans. There is a decent amount of olive oil in the bottom of the pans. The oil gives the crust a crunchy texture and a buttery flavor.
Here is a tip I never thought of. Place your pepperoni on a paper towel and microwave for about 30 seconds. It takes most of the grease out of the pepperoni and you don’t get that pool of orange oil on your pizza.
Wow, look at all that oil!
I always make one pepperoni pizza and one cheese pizza. I double the layers of cheese and meat on the pepperoni one.
Here is my cheese pizza. I usually have a combination of cheeses: mozzarella, fresh Parmesan, and asiago. I also add a bit of Italian Herbs on top.
Perfection
This recipe makes a nice chewy crust. The crust was about 3/4 of an inch thick. I was reminded of pizza from Pizza Hut. I loved it and would make it again.
If you want to make this, and you should, go to Girl + Food = Love for the recipe.
This week I am linking this recipe up to Foodie Friends Friday

Glad you are with us and you enjoyed the pizza. It looks perfect!
Deep Dish Pizza is something I’ve always wanted to make myself, but never have. It looks delicious!

WE love pizza–I do have fond memories of Pizza Huts Personal Pan Pizzas. This looks delicious.
I love a good deep dish pizza! I like that you used your cake pans. I like using my cake pans to make quiche!
